What’s on Offer:

As a Research Officer (Soil Chemistry) with the NSW Department of Primary Industries, you’ll be:

  • Working within NSW’s premier Agricultural Research facility at the Wagga Wagga Agricultural Institute (WWAI)
  • Providing scientific and professional support across a number of projects in relation to soil chemistry and crop nutrition.
  • Working closely alongside leading Research Scientists aiming to improve knowledge on various aspects of soil-plant interactions research
  • In a temporary role until 30 June 2021
  • Earning between $61,658 - $118,419 per annum plus superannuation and 17.5% leave loading

What You’ll Do:

  • Contribute to research on amelioration of soil constraints, crop nutrition and improving crop yields in hostile soils, helping to close the yield gap in dryland agriculture
  • Carry out innovative, impactful research that will inform new and robust approaches.
  • Design and conduct laboratory and field experiments and measurements.
  • Adapt and/or develop experimental methods, protocols, equipment, and soil-plant methodologies to support research to impact the Australian agricultural industry
  • Play a role in writing high-quality scientific papers and reports suitable for publication in quality journals, for client reports and granting of patents.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within your team, the business unit and across NSW DPI


What You’ll Have:

  • A degree qualification in a relevant Agriculture or Science, based discipline
  • A current NSW Driver Licence


And if you’ve got this even better:

  • Proven knowledge of experimental design and methodology in soil-plant research
  • Demonstrated experience in the collection, interpretation and reporting of data
