Company 

This business currently operates Rural Merchandise Stores across Queensland and New South Wales. They pride themselves on excellent staff that have a broad range of knowledge and experience in all facets of agribusiness. They supply a wide range of products focusing on cropping, produce, animal health, fencing supplies and general farm merchandise.

Position 

Reporting directly to the Branch Manager, the Sales Agronomist will be responsible for implementing all facets of broadacre and pasture agronomy to optimise profits for farmer clients and the Company, provide accurate on-farm advice to key clients and introduce techniques to support clients cropping and farming enterprises. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate on-farm advice to key clients relating to farm management and agronomic practices in broadacre cropping of both winter and summer crops and pasture production
  • Introducing techniques to support clients cropping and farming enterprises by enhancing production and develop market opportunities for agronomic services
  • To develop and achieve working relationships with growers, consultants, researchers and other key industry groups 
  • Seek new profitable business opportunities to optimise business performance
  • Develop and maintain customer support plans as devised by the guidelines set out by the Company

Skills and Experience  

  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a sales focused rural merchandise role selling ag chemical, seed and fertiliser products direct to growers 
  • Strong negotiation skills 
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience in providing on-farm agronomic advice and recommendations
  • Experience in a commercial agronomy role servicing broadacre cropping, or irrigated crop production systems in a sales, consulting or in-house capacity will be highly regarded

Qualifications 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Agricultural Science or a related discipline would be highly regarded 
  • Current unrestricted Drivers Licence
  • AgSafe accreditation and understanding of chemical handling and storage procedures

Remuneration

An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated to reflect skills and experience.
