Detail information about job PROJECTS AND EDUCATION MANAGER. Terms and conditions vacancy

  • Help protect Australia’s national parks programs
  • Lead important projects and education programs
  • Join an effective and successful not-for-profit

Who we are

The Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife protects and enhances Australia’s natural and cultural heritage by providing environmental education and funding for land protection and the conservation of wilderness and wildlife. The Foundation is Australia’s foremost philanthropic partner for national parks, especially in relation to acquiring land to add to the public national parks estate.  Governed by a Board of Directors, the Foundation is an independent, non-government charity and has provided more than $40 million in grants since 1970 for:

  • land conservation of national parks and other high value conservation lands
  • wildlife research and threatened species recovery
  • cultural heritage conservation in parks for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal sites
  • environmental education, interpretation and awareness-raising for schools and the wider community.

The Foundation is a national organisation.  In NSW, it works in partnership with the NSW Office and Environment and Heritage, which includes the Parks & Wildlife Group, and other state agencies, researchers and conservation groups responsible for national parks and wildlife conservation.

The job

The Foundation is offering a rare opportunity to join their team in the new and influential role of Projects and Education Manager. You will be responsible for planning and implementing projects, grant programs and educational activities, from end-to-end.  This will include undertaking robust project management, and innovative research, program design, implementation, compliance and reporting for educational and grant activities.

You’ll have responsibility for delivering, managing and coordinating grant requirements to increase conservation works and iconic projects on both public and private lands. You’ll be developing innovative educational programs, targeting schools and councils, and building the Foundation’s already rich networks.

The Foundation will need you to run projects autonomously, show your natural flair for fostering strong relationships, lean heavily on up-to-date research to inform decision-making and to collaborate generously and effectively with a range of stakeholder partners.

Who you are

You are likely to be tertiary qualified, perhaps in environmental science or conservation and land management with post-graduate experience in a similar role. You’ll carry intelligence, positivity and integrity in roughly equal measure and be blessed with strong communication skills and a passion for the environment. Most importantly, you’ll relish using your communications and network-building skills to engage with a diverse and complex range of stakeholders.

So, what’s in it for you?

This is a fulltime role, offering some flexibility in hours to suit your needs, a salary that genuinely reflects your experience and skills and the chance to join a progressive, successful not-for-profit who are making a profound difference to Australia’s national parks and to the protection and conservation of our native habitat and species.

What next?

If this sounds like the right opportunity and you would like to see a position description, we’d love to hear from you.
