This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a ground-breaking new project, namely NQ Dry Tropics’ Landholders Driving Change (LDC) project, which aims to tackle erosion and improve land management, productivity and Reef water quality in the Burdekin region.

Established in 2002, our Townsville-based client (NQ Dry Tropics) is one of 56 Australian Natural Resource Management (NRM) bodies, and operates in the 146,000km2 Burdekin Dry Tropics Region. NQ Dry Tropics is an independent, not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation that supports the Burdekin Dry Tropics community to sustainably manage its land and water.

In this role you will report to the LDC Project Manager, and work closely with key internal and external stakeholders, to co-ordinate, plan, manage and deliver on landscape remediation activities within Bowen, Broken, Bogie (BBB) Catchment (near Bowen and Collinsville); which currently produces almost a quarter of the total fine sediment load that ends-up on the Reef.

Core to this will be: developing, negotiating and managing project delivery contracts; co-ordinating the planning and design of landscape remediation works; managing onsite works and supervising contractors; develop and delivery agreed work plans; managing and monitoring the project to ensure delivery of contracted milestones within budget and on time; convening and facilitating meetings with the LDC Landscape Remediation Advisory Group including management of all related reporting, monitoring and evaluation; communicating, co-ordinating and aligning effort with other relevant projects and programmes; negotiating trial site agreements with participating landholders; managing the relationship between participating landholders and the LDC Project; co-ordinating Water Quality and other data acquisition programs; and associated administration.

Relevant experience and willingness and availability for regular travel throughout the region is essential. Relevant qualifications and project/contract management experience within a civil construction and/or environmental remediation context will be a distinct advantage.

This role can be based in Townsville, Bowen or elsewhere within the BBB Catchment, e.g. Collinsville.

Forward your application, quoting Reference Number PO20618, by Monday, 2 July 2018.
