The Animal Hospital At Murdoch University (TAHMU) is the clinical and teaching facility supporting the College of Veterinary Medicine, and as such is an integral part of the academic capability of the College.  Being a teaching hospital, TAHMU offers specialist referral services to referring vets across WA in all major disciplines (such as small animal medicine, orthopaedic surgery, equine and surgery) and is supported by a range of specialist diagnostic and support services as well as consultancy services. There is an Emergency and Critical Care service operating 24 hours a day, every day of the year, and a General Practice. Currently, TAHMU receives approximately 28,000 attendances per annum.

The Role

We now seek a passionate and experienced internist to deliver small animal medicine expertise as well as practical instruction to veterinary students, residents and specialty trainees. The role will provide specialist-level veterinary services in our state-of-the-art hospital facility, supported by a European Board-certified Diplomat, residents and interns, a team of specialists in surgery, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, 24-houry emergency/ICU, anaesthesia, and pathology, with the combined experience and mentorship of national and international experts.

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • A veterinary degree registrable by the Veterinary Surgeons’ Board of WA;
  • Completion of a residency or possession of a professional post-graduate qualification in Small Animal Medicine that would permit registration as a specialist with the Veterinary Surgeons’ Board of WA;
  • Significant and recent experience in management of canine and feline referral medicine cases;
  • Highly effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to collaborate with staff at all levels of the organisation.
