Puppy Love (Vic) is a small but growing boutique Grooming, Pet Products & Services business in Northcote that focuses on natural and gentle care for our clients. We are a cage free salon and pride ourselves on a happy and quality experience for our customers. We also have consulting holistic services like Reiki and Massage

About the role

Sadly our current manager is moving interstate so this role is required to commence asap as she is finishing July 28th. This however opens up a fantastic opportunity for a new groomer and salon manager.

This role requires an experienced all round superstar with a minimum of 5 years in a salon environment and experience in managing a salon. You should be familiar with the common breed clips and deshedding process and be comfortable completing 8 to 10 dogs per day with a bather. Our current operating days are Tuesday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm and Saturday 9am to 5pm. 

We would consider changing our operating days and hours for the right candidate.

Duties & responsibilities

• Managing client bookings and staff roster
• Taking photos for Facebook posts.
• Lead groomer overseeing and training junior groomers and bathers
• Excellent Customer service
• Manage retail inventory stock
• Ensure salon fully stocked with shampoo/conditioner etc and equipment is well maintained
• Perform lead grooming role
• Dog washing and assisting customers in setting up D.I.Y Wash where required
• Basic and breed specific clips - eg westies, cavoodles, mini poodles, teddy bear clips, schnauzers, etc.
• Reception duties - e.g answering phone, taking bookings, processing payments, answering queries from customers
• Sales - e.g providing advice on pet care, coat maintenance, product information, up-selling add on products (detanglers, treats, brushes, flea treatments)
• Cleaning of equipment, bathing and grooming rooms
• Keeping shop front stocked, clean and tidy

Skills & experience

• You must be qualified or demonstrate equivalent experience working in a salon environment
• Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
• Be able to work well under pressure in busy times 
• Demonstrated excellent customer service
• Ability to work autonomously
• Experience in dog handling and care
• Knowledge of a wide variety of dog breeds in general
• Breed specific grooming experience
• A positive and happy attitude
• You must be a passionate dog lover that can be 100% trusted to provide the care you would if it was your own dog.
