NSW DPI (a division within the NSW Department of Industry) is focused on delivering integrated, innovative programs and projects that grow and sustain not only our primary industries sector but also communities and economies across the state.

The Narrandera Fisheries Centre (NFC), was opened in 1962 as a research centre to study the breeding biology and ecology of inland aquatic systems. Since then, NFC has been the centre of inland freshwater fisheries research in New South Wales, and has also developed into a productive hatchery, providing fingerlings of four native fish species (Murray cod, Trout cod, Golden perch and Silver perch) to improve freshwater recreational fisheries and conservation initiatives.

The Centre fulfils a number of roles including breeding, conservation, environmental surveys, NSW rivers management, aquaculture, reporting on illegal activities and community education. NFC is a small, multi-disciplinary facility containing staff from Fisheries Research, Research Services, Aquaculture and Indigenous Fisheries and Charles Sturt University.

In your role as Manager Narrandera Fisheries Centre, you will use your stakeholder management skills to ensure the smooth and safe running of a team of office and operational staff and the demands of varied other staff on site including research staff and other clients. Managing the day-to day operations of the centre will see you coordinate and manage assets and infrastructure and utilise your knowledge of fish production and hatchery management.

You will be forward thinking and open minded and be able to identify areas for improvement and solve problems. You will work both autonomously and collaboratively as part of a regionally located team, and be able to deliver work within required timeframes. Someone who can develop strong professional relationships with stakeholders, and manage multiple tasks at the same time will succeed in this role.

If you are passionate about aquaculture and have the skills and experience we are looking for, then we want to hear from you. To apply please attach a current resume (of no more than five pages) plus a one-page cover letter which demonstrates how your previous experience would be suitable and of benefit to this role.
