The Geelong Animal Welfare Society (GAWS) is a not for profit organisation providing pound, shelter and veterinary services to the Geelong region. The Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a Practice Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Head Veterinarian, the role is diverse and integral to GAWS as it plays a key part in the overall management of the Geelong Animal Welfare Society (GAWS) Community Veterinary Clinic including leadership,  maintaining quality veterinary nursing care and ensuring smooth running of the clinic operations.  The role also contributes significantly to GAWS' aim for continuous improvement and in particular in improvements to quality customer service and veterinary care.

The position is full time (Monday to Friday) with negotiable hours of work. Organisational induction, ongoing training and learning programs are available to support personal and career development.

Experience & Skills

To be considered for this position you must have demonstrated qualification/experience in:

• Solid business operations management and administration experience with a demonstrated ability to maintain attention to detail and high standards of administrative tasks;

• Strong planning and organisational skills to effectively manage workloads determine priorities and meet deadlines;

• Be a qualified Veterinary Nurse with a minimum of 2 years’ experience;

• Proven experience in team management with strong leadership and team building skills;

• Negotiation skills to balance conflicting requirements of multiple stakeholders to meet objectives;

• Ability to provide coaching and to build a positive culture in your team;

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;

• Ability to work effectively and independently, and use initiative with full discretion;

• Experience with Sheltermate or CustomerLogic (Preferred but not essential);

• A valid driver’s license.

The successful candidate for this position will be required to undergo a pre-employment Police Check and provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia.
