Djerriwarrh Community & Education Services (Djerriwarrh) is a highly regarded not-for-profit charitable organisation, which has been delivering high quality education, training, employment and youth programs in the western suburbs of Melbourne since 1989. Program:
Over the past 19 years, Djerriwarrh Community & Education Services (Djerriwarrh) has delivered School Focused Youth Services (SFYS) across the Melton Brimbank Regions in partnership with Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand (GSANZ). Since 1 January 2018, Djerriwarrh has been delivering SFYS independently and under the current contract, will only deliver across the Melton City Council Local Government area.
Role:
The program seeks to ensure that at risk young people are well supported in their communities that identified risk factors are addressed or mitigated and that at risk young people continue to be engaged and connected to education. This will be achieved by:
- creating partnerships and pathways between schools and community organisations to support at risk young people; and,
- coordinating the provision of community based services in partnership with schools and community agencies to support schools to address the needs of at risk young people.
Skills/Qualifications:
A qualification in youth work, social work, welfare, teaching or equivalent is essential.
