Injury Management and Health Coordinator

Our client who is a disability services organisation requires an experienced Injury Management and Health Coordinator to proactively manage Health & Safety in the area of workers compensation administration, injury management and rehabilitation processes to ensure the implementation of safe and sustainable return to work strategies for staff and employees who have sustained an injury or illness.

This position reports to the Health and Safety Manager and requires communication with personnel across the organisation. This is a 2-month contract position with the possibility of extension, we will also consider candidates that are looking for a part time role.

Your responsibilities:

• Acting as a point of reference for workers compensation and injury management queries from staff and managers across the business;
• Providing effective and innovative case management services for staff and supported employees who have sustained an injury or illness (work related and non-work related) including;
• Travelling to worksites (metro and regional) or staff members’ home to assist injured staff or employees to lodge a worker’s compensation claim if work related;
• Liaising with all stakeholders including treating practitioners, external rehabilitation providers and company insurer on a regular basis;
• Conducting worksite assessments and meetings;
• Developing, distributing and monitoring Return to Work Plans;
• Implementing pro-active intervention strategies to set and achieve individual rehabilitation goals;
• Providing advice and support to managers and supervisors on appropriate people management strategies and responsibilities in incident and injury management processes;
• Preparing for and attending all claims review meetings with the company’s workers compensation insurer and other meetings with relevant sites/managers (metro and regional), as and when required, ensuring agreed actions are undertaken;
• Developing task analyses, risk assessments and duties Manuals to incorporate proactive injury prevention and management into the overall Health & Safety system;
• Maintaining accurate and detailed records/files of injury management activities;

 
You will require:

• Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or Injury Management or a related discipline
• Current ‘C’ Class drivers licence
• Current National Police Certificate
• A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a similar role within a large organisation
• Demonstrated experience in managing complex workers compensation claims including assessing, investigating, reviewing, negotiating and determining workers compensation claims and entitlements
• Experience in developing and implementing injury management strategies to achieve safe and successful rehabilitation and return to work outcomes
• Sound knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety and Workers Compensation legislation
• Understanding of community and social issues related to disability service provision
