About the Organisation
Central Queensland, Wide Bay, Sunshine Coast PHN (The PHN) is an independent not-for-profit organisation funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health to improve the health outcomes of the region. It covers over 169,500 km2.
The PHN coordinates primary and preventative healthcare – that is, the healthcare that takes place outside of a hospital, such as General Practitioners (GPs), allied health, chronic disease management, aged care, mental health and Indigenous health.
The key objectives of the PHN are to:
- Enable responsive and dynamic solutions that optimise population health and wellbeing
- Build healthy, resilient, connected communities – country to coast.
About the Opportunity
The IHPO will be responsible for improving access to, and supporting mainstream health services & General Practices, the delivery of culturally competent services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people health issues.
Key selection criteria:
- a minimum Certificate IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Primary Health Care (Community Care) or related field is essential
- a high level understanding & experience in program coordination, including program implementation and evaluation
- experience in the provision of culturally sensitive non-clinical services and/or care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- demonstrated knowledge & experience in health projects and programs
- an understanding of the general practice setting and its business functions
