The Organisation
An exciting opportunity has become available to work for Barnardos, one of Australia’s leading children’s charities. Barnardos Australia builds relationships between children, young people, their families and the community. They advocate for children and young people and contribute to community knowledge about their issue.

The Role
Barnardos are looking for a part-time (28 hours/4 days per week), permanent Beyond Barbed Wire (BBW) Program Caseworker to be based in Wellington, Western NSW.  
  
The Beyond Barbed Wire (“BBW”) Program is a program based at Barnardos Wellington site for women with children leaving jail - most are Indigenous, are incarcerated in the Wellington Correctional Centre or Macquarie Remand Centre and are going home to live in Western NSW. BBW is made up of a suite of support services for women in jail and post release.
  
The BBW Caseworker will be responsible for providing  case work management and support to BBW clients, including comprehensive assessment of needs and case work plan to meet those needs.

The Candidate
The successful BBW Caseworker will have:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the criminal justice system and associated services
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the impacts on extended family members, especially children, when a Parent / Carer is incarcerated
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated cultural competency with Aboriginal Australian culture
  • Ability to collect and record data using electronic data bases
  • Group work facilitation skills
  • Tertiary qualifications, or equivalent in Social Work, Social Welfare, Education or Psychology, or other relevant human services professions preferably to degree level; OR Diploma level AND min. 3 years’ casework experience [DESIRABLE]
Barnardos works closely with Aboriginal Partnership Agencies in the community, and would welcome application from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates.

Additional Information 
To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance, current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number) and for the ACT a Drivers History Check, Working with Vulnerable People Card and CYPS Check.
You must also have a current NSW unrestricted drivers license.

Salary
$60, 288 - $68, 311 pro rata (including FBT packaging) + benefits + Super. Motor Vehicle packaging is optional.
