Coordinator – Parent Support Program (PSP) – Wyndham

We are seeking a mature person passionate about the value of a safe and secure early childhood for creating future well being of the individual.

It is a new initiative and the job is to coordinate an outreach parent support outreach program in the small town of Wyndham , W.A., focusing on newborns to 3 year olds and particularly their parents.

Wyndham is a mostly aboriginal population.The town is friendly and set in a spectacular landscape and would suit anyone interested in outdoor activities including fishing and bush walking.

The remuneration package is generous. Tertiary qualification is ideal but not essential.

This position is a full time position based in Wyndham and the main responsibility is to lead and facilitate a comprehensive community engagement and planning process to inform the development of PSP in Wyndham. Not only that in collaboration with local community members and other service providers develop and implement an agreed action plan of integrated services and activities for families with children aged zero to three years in Wyndham.

Essential Selection Criteria:

  • Qualifications in Human services, child development, community development or similar discipline
  • Intermediate/Proficient Administration level of competency.
  •  Intermediate IT level of competency.
  •  Demonstrated commitment to and experience in strengths based/capacity building and community development.
  • Effective strategic planning and project management skills.
  •  Demonstrated leadership capability including the ability to broker relationships and partnerships.
  • Well-developed self-management skills
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills including negotiation, conflict resolution, advocacy and group facilitation skills.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in effectively engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse families.
  •  Strong local knowledge and connection to the region, being able to work from an office based in Wyndham.
  •  Group facilitation and education skills.
  •  Experience in child/family or community development sector including knowledge of service planning, development and evaluation.
  •  Understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements in the areas of Equal Opportunities and Occupational Health.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to work after hours on an occasional basis.
  •  Possession of a current National Police Clearance, Working with Children Check and WA driver’s licence.
