YWCA NSW stands for gender equality, eliminating violence against women and children, and providing safe harbour to those in need. We raise funds through profit-for-purpose businesses, donations, and government grants to provide a range of programs and services. These programs and services deliver domestic violence support, women's refuges, homeless support, mentoring, education and life-skills for young people.
Y-PEP is a dynamic and interactive Child Protection Education Program for children and young people in schools across NSW. The purpose of this role is to engage students by delivering high quality workshops.
The Role
Applications are now open for casual facilitators to join our Child Protection Education Program (Y-PEP) in the following locations:
- New England- Armidale, Moree, Tamworth
Reporting directly to the Program Coordinator, you will deliver the Y-PEP education program in primary schools and high schools across NSW, ranging from Kindergarten to Year 10 students. Topics include: Recognising Abuse, Protective Strategies, and Power in Relationships. For more information about the Y-PEP program, visit: www.ypep.com.au
You will be required to respond appropriately to sensitive discussions, while maintaining a positive and open atmosphere. Our ideal facilitators will be passionate about child protection and experienced working with children and young people.
Selection criteria
- Qualification in Social Work, Education and/or experience in equivalent setting
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating high quality workshops to children and young people across a variety of age ranges
- Ability to motivate and engage children and young people
- Proven understanding in development, learning needs and learning styles of children and young people
- Demonstrated ability to manage challenging behaviours and group dynamics in line with program guidelines
- Thorough understanding of child protection legislation and reporting requirements
- NSW driving licence
- Ability to travel across NSW for training and delivery as required
