THE ROLE

As a disability support worker on Hireup, there are eight types of support you can choose to provide: help around the house, transport, out and about, personal care, education and employment, therapy support, and in-home care. It is expected that all support workers:

• Perform all duties with professionalism and care.
• Work under general guidance from the person seeking support/their family, within clearly defined guidelines.
• Are responsible for managing their own time
• Are able to work with limited supervision. This is appropriate as long as instructions on how to perform the task have been given in advance.
• Perform activities requiring the exercise of sound judgment, initiative, confidentiality, and sensitivity in the performance of work.

• An interest in supporting people with disability to explore their capabilities and reach their potential
• The desire to share their interests and passions with others
• The ability to manage their own time and work autonomously

• Strong communication and organisational skills
• A kind, caring and empathetic nature with an inclusive attitude.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

We're also passionate about connecting people with disability to workers that meet their requirements for experienced and professional support, which means we'll also need:

• A current Australian form of photo ID
• A Police Criminal Record check from within the last 12 months
• A current Working with Children check 
• A current First Aid and/or CPR certificate
• Two professional referees for Hireup to contact
• Your work history, experience or qualifications
• State-based employment check
