About the role
As the Youth Worker YES! Housing you will support homeless young people to achieve permanent housing solutions.
Duties & Responsibilities
Below is a brief outline of some of the duties and responsibilities of the role:
- Assess young people applying for YES! Housing
- Assist young people to move into Department of Housing, community and private rental accommodation
- Provide holistic case management to young people living independently or preparing to do so
- Provide practical support and advocacy to young people
- Prepare pro-forma documentation to assist young people to access private rental and public housing
- Liaise with community agencies to support young people into accommodation
- Liaise with Department of Housing, Community Housing providers and real estate agents so young people can access housing
- Liaise with relevant youth services and other referring organisations
- Maintain statistical and data collection requirements
- Attend relevant training as required
Selection Criteria
To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:
- Minimum qualification of Certificate IV in Human Services, or equivalent skills and experience
- Relevant experience working in the human services or youth work field
- Case management and assessment skills
- Knowledge of issues affecting young people
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Organisational skills in order to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
- Ability to work with a broad range of people
- Ability to work in a team
- Skill using multiple computer applications and software
- Motivated person who can work independently, with an ability to set personal limits
The successful candidate must possess a current National Police Clearance valid within one year, a WA Working with Children Check, WA Drivers Licence, and access to a car.
Remuneration
- $61,515 - $66,193 per annum pro rata + 9.5% superannuation
- Kilometerage reimbursement
- In addition to your remuneration, you will enjoy generous tax-free salary packaging benefits where you can package up to $15,900 per annum and not pay tax on that amount
