The Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) operates within the context that Aboriginal children continue to be significantly over-represented in the protection and care system within Victoria. VACCA considers that it has the responsibility and the opportunity to promote, advocate for and achieve positive changes in the lives of Aboriginal children, their families and the broader Aboriginal community.

We have an exciting new role that has come through for a Family Violence Lead Practitioner !! 

About the role

This senior role is responsible for leading clinical supervision and clinical management of family violence teams across VACCA; representing VACCA at external relevant family violence forums, overseeing quality assurance of VACCA’s current and future family violence programs, and championing a centralised body of best practice for family violence programs across VACCA.

 

VACCA’s Practice Leadership Group is responsible for designing quality, innovative and culturally responsive programs and policy to meet the needs of vulnerable Aboriginal children and families; quality assurance; training and research. VACCA is rapidly expanding into the Family Violence sector, and continuing growth opportunities to be championed are anticipated.

To be successful in your application the following is required - 

Key Selection Criteria 

a.     A tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, family therapy or a related discipline

b.     Demonstrated capacity to lead, develop and manage the clinical component of the family             violence programs through ongoing provision of training, clinical supervision, coaching                 and support of staff.

c.     A proven ability to develop, manage and lead a team in quality practice

d.     Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of Aboriginal culture and value and the                    importance of identity, and cultural connections in the healing process for Aboriginal                      children and families.

e.     Demonstrated experience in successfully delivery a range of appropriate therapeutic                      healing interventions to Aboriginal women, men, children and families

f.     Substantial and relevant experience working across Child and Family Welfare Services and           the Aboriginal sector.

g.     Demonstrated ability and experience in team management, inspirational leadership and              the capacity to lead and develop new initiatives.
