Key Assets – The Children's Services Provider is a dynamic NOT-FOR-PROFIT community service organisation providing high quality, innovative out of home family and community based placements for children and young people with varying needs and behaviours. Since 2007 our unique service has grown respect across 6 states within Australia and within the North and South Islands of New Zealand. 

 

We are now seeking an energetic and creative individual to be a Team Manager in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia. This new role will be based in our office in Kununurra following an induction into the organisation at our Perth office in Stirling.

 

About the role

As the TEAM MANAGER you will be the senior Key Assets officer in the East Kimberley and have responsibility for the provision of a range of high quality, child safe, culturally responsive services that are integrated into the community, in partnership with local agencies.

 

Key Components of the role

  • To take a lead role in the establishment and development of new family support services, and in the development of the existing fostering service in the region. This will include assisting in the development of service policy and practice guidelines as required.
  • To take the initiative in identifying and responding to new business opportunities in the region, with the support of the Director/Assistant Director.
  • To build a close and effective working relationship with partner agencies and participate in managing the formal partnerships Key Assets has established.
  • To actively engage with the East Kimberley community, working through local networks and with local organisations to raise the profile of Key Assets and identifying opportunities for joint working.
  • To work closely with the Department of Communities in the delivery of contracted services including during implementation phases of new services.
  • To carry a small caseload and work directly with families as required including case management, family case planning, and a range of casework activities.

 

Qualities, Experience and Skills Required

  • Be highly energised and have a passion for delivering a high standard of service 
  • Be highly committed, resourceful and work to high standards
  • Qualification in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the AASW
  • Expertise and commitment to developing a team and service in a remote location
  • Must have extensive experience in a children and family setting and have gained proven working experience in child protection and/or out of home care
  • Show evidence of leadership, management and supervisory experience
  • Be able to show initiative and to work independently
  • Have a strong ability to create and maintain sustainable relationships with stakeholders and capacity to develop networks on behalf of the agency
  • Must have a comprehensive working knowledge of relevant legislation pertaining to children’s services, and a sound understanding of child safe practices and procedures
  • Must have a current Working With Children Check, relevant to the state this position is advertised for
  • and will be required to undergo statutory and personal checks prior to commencement
