About the role
This is not an entry level role
We are currently seeking Casual Residential Support Workers to join our team to provide support to individuals with Autism living in a home environment with 24 hour support.
The vacancies are across the City of Swan Bullsbrook, Ellenbrook and across the Perth metro area.
Times of shifts available: 24 hours 7.00 am till 7.15am following day.. And or 2.5 days Mon – Wed, Wed – Fri and or Fri to Mon. (Where you stay and sleep at the required location)
You will:
- Support people with Autism in completing, household duties to develop independence in their home and in the community including, shopping, budgeting, cooking, cleaning and personal care and hygiene
- Encourage, support and accompany people in a range of activities to promote maximum physical and social integration into community life
- Medication administration with training provided
- Support and encourage people with Autism to achieve individual personal goals
- Engage with the wider community to provide a better understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Supporting individuals who may have complex needs
Key Requirements
- Passion for supporting people with Autism to lead the life they desire
- Ability to manage and support diverse individuals in a challenging environment
- Previous experience working within the Disability Services sector within a similar role
- Be client focussed, professional, independent, highly motivated and resilient
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Bundles of enthusiasm, energy and confidence to adapt and be flexible
- Confident and experienced in providing positive behaviour supports
- Courage to think outside the box and be solution focussed
- Full drivers' license (no P plates) with regular access to a reliable roadworthy 4 door vehicle
Desirable
- Understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder
