About the organisation

Jesuit Social Services is a social change organisation working to build a just society where all people can live to their full potential.

Since 1977, we’ve provided services in some of the most disadvantaged in our community.

We place a high priority on advocacy and are a leader in policy development and research.

About the program

Jesuit Social Services has a history of investing in programs to support people to transition into education, training and jobs. Both experience and research tells us that one of the most reliable pathways out of disadvantage and most effective ways of connecting with the broader community is through employment.

The Skills First Reconnect Program is a Victorian Government initiative that funds the provision of a range of supports for high needs learners to sustain their engagement with learning and build the resilience and capacity necessary to successfully transition into formal learning and training that leads to jobs.

The Skills First Reconnect Pathway Support Worker will provide an holistic wrap around service to address non vocational barriers and to assist them to enroll and complete a Skills First funded vocational course and liaise with other specialist programs and supports to provide transition support to obtain employment.

About the role

As a Skills First Reconnect Pathway Support Worker you will be responsible for providing tailored services to address non-vocational barriers to improve the readiness of disadvantaged people to identify vocational pathways and to support them to transition successfully into a vocational course.

This is a part time (0.6 FTE) role, based at Whittlesea with travel to other sites, as needed.

Candidate requirements

To be successful in this role, candidates will require:

  • Demonstrated experience (or capacity) to identify and work with other services to address high needs learners that may be experiencing a learning need or barrier to learning.
  • To conduct assertive outreach and community engagement to maintain a caseload of 20 participants
  • To complete holistic assessments of participant’s levels of disadvantage and personal needs, their abilities and aspirations, learning needs and career and personal goals
  • An understanding of the Skills First funded training sector including eligibility requirements would be desirable
  • The ability to successfully communicate, liaise and network with other community services to develop ongoing service relationships and partnerships.
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders in government, the private and the community sectors.
  • Personal drive, passion and commitment to achieve the best outcomes for the people Jesuit Social Services is seeking to assist.
  • Understanding and sympathy with the mission and ethos of Jesuit Social Services

If you have what it takes and have a passion to use your skills to build and maintain a platform that will enable delivery excellence in the present, and growth of our 'inclusion' activities into the future, we would love to hear from you.

An attractive salary plus salary packaging is offered, together with ongoing professional and career development.
