  • Part Time. Fixed Term to end June 2019
  • Experience working in family violence case work / counselling space essential
  • 2 x 1 day per week positions or a 2 day per week position available.
  • 1 day per week – North East Melbourne Area (NEMA)
  • 1 day per week position – Hume/Moreland
  • Fixed  term positions until  June 2019
  • Must be able to work form all sites operated by DPV

DPV Health is a Primary Health Service that provides a range of primary health, dental, disability, population health and social support services to the growing communities of the outer northern suburbs of Melbourne.

The Position

The Family Violence Partner Contact Worker position sits within the Specialist Family Violence program within Primary Care. The program includes 2 Men’s Behaviour Change (MBC) Program Co-Facilitators and a Men’s counsellor with the goal of assisting men to cease their use of violence and exploring new ways of relating to their partner, children and others based on non-violence, equality in relationships, openness, respect and being more ‘other centred’. 

The Partner Contact worker works alongside the MBC program practitioners and has primary responsibility for contact, assessment and response to all partners, ex-partners and other affected family members with a primary focus of maximising the safety of women and children who are affected by family violence.

Key Selection Criteria

Applicants must have a degree in Social Work (or equivalent) and eligibility for membership with the AASW or other relevant professional association.  Experience in the family violence, particularly case work/counselling for women and a sound understanding of issues underpinning family violence and the effects on women and children’s lives is essential.
