Avon Youth Community & Family Services Inc, (AYCFS) is a non-government, not-for-profit, community based organisation that delivers a range of Youth and Housing support services to young people, and families across the Wheatbelt, WA. Our main office is in Northam, with outreach services in Narrogin, Merredin and Moora. 

This is a full-time Youth Worker position based in Narrogin and works closely with our team and key-stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the WA Footprints to Better Health Program. 

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the primary functions of this role includes:

  1. Effective delivery of  Youth support services that fosters positive relationships with young people, their families and community.
  2. Effective delivery of Aboriginal youth, support services that will increase young people awareness and knowledge of; 
  • Social and emotional well-being strategies that reduces the negative aspects of relational/environmental factors
  • Risks associated with drug, alcohol and tobacco use and strategies to mitigate these
  • The delivery of Connection to country activities, that strengthens young people in their Aboriginal culture 

      3. Successful delivery of Contract requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engaging young people aged 12 to 25 into strength based programs that fosters a positive fun and interactive learning environment
  • Successfully delivery of  Project and Annual plan activities
  • Provision of effective Case Management to young people referred to the service
  • The day to day  running of the AYCFS Office in Merredin
  • Establishing effective working relationships with Key-stakeholders/Agencies who work with young people in the area
  • Meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and reporting requirements in a professional and timely manner
  • Attending partner/key-stakeholder meetings that are relevant to your programs
  • Carrying out other tasks as required by the Operations Manager

  • Building and maintaining strong networks, service delivery partnerships, and effective referral pathways
  • Considering yourself a team player, and having a 'can-do' attitude that demonstrates an infectious enthusiasm for your job.

This role requires you to have:

A recognised tertiary qualification in Youth Work, Community Service/Development, and or Health or Social services.

A high standard of written and oral communication skills

Experience in the development and implementation of Project plans

Strong Case Management skills and experience

Demonstrated high standards of time management and organisation skills

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft office programs

You must also have a current;

  • National WA Police Check
  • Working with Children's Check
  • First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • WA Drivers Licence

Salary:

Salary ranges between $45,000 and $55,000 depending on your qualifications and experience.
