The Senior Support Worker role includes face to face work with the people we support including sleepover/wake over shifts and administration responsibilities which are undertaken on a dedicated administration day.

Our services are currently offered either at our residential homes, or respite service, or in the local community.

About the Role:

We are looking for a number of experienced Senior Support Workers or, Support Workers who demonstrate leadership capabilities to act as the bridge between the Service Team Leader and the teams of Support Workers.

The role of Senior Support Worker combines the administrative and leadership functions of supporting a small team with general Support Worker tasks. These leadership positions require staff to:

  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of either a supported accommodation site or small community team
  • Facilitate house meetings and/or client feedback
  • Monitor the progress of service user goals
  • Oversee the day-today WH&S functions, and individual risk assessments
  • Monitor individual service user budgets
  • Ensure records of support provision are accurately maintained
  • Implement Our Voice Our Choice practice and operational initiatives
  • Work face to face with the people we support undertaking Support Worker functions.
  • Coach and train new team members 
  • Provide information and data to Service Team Leaders as requested

To be considered for the position, you will possess:

  • Diploma, CERT IV and/or equivalent experience in the community services sector
  • A proven ability to relate to and engage with people who have Disability and/or Mental health.
  • A demonstrated commitment to a strengths-based approach in the achievement of service user  goals
  • A commitment to person-centred active support, and experience in the planning process
  • Experience demonstrating leadership capabilities
  • A working understanding of NDIS plans, funding and supports
  • Excellent personal and interpersonal communication skills
  • A current driver's licence
  • An up to date Police Criminal Record Check
  • A current First Aid Certificate
  • A current Working with Children/Vulnerable People Check or willingness to obtain.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience with program rostering
  • Previous experience with timesheet submissions to payroll
