Kinship Care Manager - Case Contracted – permanent full time

Kinship Care is defined as care that is provided by relatives or a member of a child’s social network when a child is unable or cannot live with their birth parent(s).  The Anchor Inc. Kinship Care Program commenced operation in March 2010 and operates within Anchor’s Child and Family Services located at Scoresby.
From a period of growth, we are currently looking to fill the vacancy of Kinship Care Case Manager.
Key aspects of this role include:

•    To enhance and build on the available formal and informal family and community supports for children living in kinship arrangements
•    To assist families to provide the best possible care arrangements for children unable to live with their birth parents
•    To assist with the establishment, monitoring and support of kinship care placements arranged for the most vulnerable children as a result of child protection involvement
•    To provide case management services to statutory kinship care placements
•    To complete assessments of risk utilising the Best Interests Assessment Framework within the family context.

To be considered for this role you will have:

•    A relevant tertiary qualification (Degree or Diploma) and experience in Social Work, Psychology, Welfare or related discipline.
•    Demonstrated experience and skills in child centred, family focused case work practice
•    Experience in the case management of families and individuals
•    Demonstrated awareness and commitment to working within the Best Interest Principles outlined in the Child Youth and Families Act 2005
•    An understanding of the social context of child abuse and neglect
•    Ability to develop, implement and think broadly in relation to client action planning at the same time as focusing on specific issues for resolution
•    Ability to work both individually and as a member of a team, and to contribute to program development, implementation and evaluation
•    Experienced in the establishment and facilitation of group work activities
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills, negotiation and liaison skills and the ability to work with government and non government organisations, community groups and families
