Healthcare Australia (HCA) is looking to recruit experienced disability support workers to fill various casual positions in the Logan region, specifically to support young people aged 5-17, who may have disabilities (physical and intellectual) and may be under child safety orders. This support may be provided in the family home or residential out of home care.
 
About you
You will be empathetic and forward focussed, you will have a genuine desire to support youth to achieve positive outcomes, you will be proactive and work well in a team and will be confident and able to manage challenging behaviours.

 Duties may include
  • Providing assistance with personal care, this will range from high full care supports to prompting depending on the young person supported
  • Domestic assistance to maintain a healthy and clean environment.
  • Assisting with medications
  • Supporting young people with life skill development such as budgeting, meal planning and food preparation.
  • Supporting young people with trauma and abuse backgrounds who may display a range of very challenging behaviours.
Minimum requirements
  • Recent/current 12 months plus, paid experience as a Disability Support Worker (Youth and in home support highly desirable)
  • Must hold (or working towards) a Certificate III or higher in a relevant field
  • Knowledge and experience of supporting clients under Child Safety Orders in a residential setting 
  • Current QLD Positive Notice Blue Card (Working with children)
  • Current QLD Disability Services Positive notice (Yellow Card)
  • Current First Aid issued within the last 3 years
  • Current CPR issued within the last 12 months
  • Available for a variety of sleepovers, day and weekend shifts as required
  • Unrestricted drivers licence, able to use own vehicle for work purposes and Comprehensive Car Insurance Cover
  • Have a smartphone (ie. iPhone, Android) to accept shifts and manage your timesheets on our eHCA App
Desirable requirements
  • Current Licenced care service clearance (LCS-working with child safety)
  • Completed behaviour support training (eg: Maybo, NVCI, TCI etc)
  • Additional experience with adults and children with disabilities and working with high challenging behaviour would be highly regarded
