The purpose of the Local Level Alliance (LLA) is to establish and strengthen connections and networks between local services that are involved with working with vulnerable families to ensure they receive the right service/s at the right time. Through strengthening the service system, the LLA contributes to:

• improved outcomes for at risk families and children through increased referrals to family support services and/or family needs met by IFaCC/FACC
• a reduction in unnecessary reports to Child Safety as a result of more efficient and effective pathways for children and families to access child and family support services
• a reduction of in the number of children at risk and in out-of-home care through increased use of family support services and improved matching of services to high risk families.

Kurbingui Youth Development is a not-for-profit community service organisation that supports around 13,600 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people – approximately seven per cent of Queensland's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population – living in the greater Brisbane, Moreton Bay and South East Bayside regions. We have an established footprint throughout these regions which began in 2001 providing services to the meet the needs of young people. Kurbingui has continued to grow in terms of the service response to the community in delivering programs in areas such as employment and training, family support, domestic and family violence, alcohol and substance abuse, cultural education and engagement, support targeting successful educational outcomes for families and children and young people from preschool to tertiary, recreation and sports, early years, youth, women and men, cultural group activities, and health and nutrition.

The Role

The primary purpose of the role is to work closely with the LLA Coordinator to take the lead in identifying key agencies and services that contribute to the service systems across our region for vulnerable children and their families. Support the Coordinator to establish and coordinate forums, working parties and other activities that promote service delivery collaboration, assist in identifying service system gaps and communicate information to peak bodies within the sector including decision makers.

To be successful in the role, you will have:

• Qualifications in Community Services, Youth Work, Early Childhood, Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences with a focus on child protection and or equal professional experience.
• Demonstrated experience with working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and CALD children, young people, parents and families as well as other community members
• The ability to liaise and work collaboratively with relevant Government and non-Government organisations
• Sound knowledge of the community service sector; including the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander organisations and services for families, children and young people
• Demonstrated ability to identify available services and service gaps; improving the alignment between the configuration of the service system and the needs of local families
• The desire to assist in building on community capacity to provide more efficient service provision for families and a thriving local community
• The ability to contribute to place-based planning for the development of an integrated suite of local services that provide families with responsive, accessible and effective support
• Demonstrated understanding of project management; including relevant elements of community development
• Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, organise and coordinate own workload
• Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-disciplined team; within Kurbingui, the Yadeni Tago partnership as well as other partner stakeholders and working groups
• Effective communication skills – written, verbal, interpersonal;  presentations and meeting facilitation / participation
• Demonstrated competence in use of business technology, internet and desktop applications such as MS Outlook, Word, Excel spreadsheets, database packages and web-based information sharing portals

Key Selection Criteria:

1. Demonstrated understanding, knowledge and experience with, or exposure to, key agencies and services that contribute to the service systems for vulnerable children and their families.
2. Demonstrated understanding of how to experience with identifying service system gaps.
3. Demonstrated experience in liaising with community sector networking groups and or community of practice similar to the LLA working groups and reporting on information to line management to assist in identifying trends emerging, opportunities and challenges.
4. Experience in assisting in the coordinating , meetings, events and activities
5. Extensive understanding and knowledge of the child protection and related legislation, processes and best practice.
6. In-depth understanding and/or experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, children and young people (including, individual Men and Women
7. Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural protocols, practices and the impact of historical events throughout the generations experienced by families, children and young people, Elder’s and individual Men and Women in contemporary society.
8. A commitment to culturally competent engagement and practice and a demonstrated respect for diversity.
9. Sound interpersonal skills, verbal and written, that promote the engagement of a wide variety of individuals and communities including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and CALD communities.
10. Willing and able to work within a culturally competent framework and approach within Kurbingui’s mission, vision and values.

Employed by Kurbingui Youth Development, this full time position offers a competitive remuneration package in line with the 'Fisher' & '316 Regulation' pay scale and Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010.
