This position exists as a part of a partnership agreement between Wirraka Maya Aboriginal Health Service and Mawarnkarra Health Service.

Located across South Hedland and Roebourne, People of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent are strongly encouraged to apply.
About the role
The Family Support Worker will work in collaboration with the Case Manager and the Coordinator of the Program whilst working alongside carer families in their homes to provide daily regular in-home, practical and emotional support to families. This includes assisting families and carers to attend appointments and access community groups and activities; providing support after school and in the evening and will have responsibility for continual assessment in consultation with case workers that are allocated to the family.
About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- Have a good understanding of local culture and community
- An appropriate tertiary qualification in human services eg. community services or considerable community experience
- Experience in working as part of a team with good written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of case management and knowledge of trauma and its effects
- Commitment to working collaboratively with the capacity to liaise with other agencies and the community.
