This position exists as a part of a partnership agreement between Wirraka Maya Aboriginal Health Service and Mawarnkarra Health Service. This rewarding and challenging role will be based in South Hedland and People of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent are strongly encouraged to apply.

About the role

The Coordinator - Intensive Family Support and Family Care co-ordinates service delivery to families within the program working alongside a range of stakeholders including the reference group for the service, the Department of Communities and MacKillop staff to develop and implement services that are therapeutically and culturally appropriate and safe for families and young people.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Program development, implementation and review by establishing strong relationships, accepting and allocating referrals and proactive engagement in service level networking and community development engagement
  • Provide Supervision to the Case Manager located in Roebourne, support the team including caseworker and the support workers and carry a small caseload

About you

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • A good understanding of local culture and community
  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work or a related discipline is essential 
  • Demonstrated experience in working as part of a team with the ability to plan, organise and prioritise work
  • Experience in case management and knowledge of traumatised and vulnerable children, young people and families
  • An understanding of Attachment, Trauma theories, child development, child-centred approach and resilience
  • Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively with the capacity to negotiate and liaise with Community Services, other agencies and the community.
  • An understanding of the child protection and the out-of-home care service system
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and computer literate
