CatholicCare is seeking an individual with mental health clinical training and experience, especially with Indigenous families and communities, to implement Multisystemic Therapy for Child Abuse and Neglect (MST-CAN). 

MST-CAN is an evidence-based treatment model directed at families with children ages 6 to 17 years old where there is on-going physical abuse and neglect.

Industry recognised ongoing professional training and development is provided in line with MST-CAN practices.

Duties include:

- assisting therapists in obtaining clinical outcomes with families,

- maintaining safety, teaching parenting and other skills,

- collecting drug screens, and responding to emergencies.

- ensure rigorous adherence to the principles set by MST Services.

 

The Crisis Caseworker will function as part of a MST-CAN team and will participate in weekly team supervision and consultation. 

The incoming appointee will need to possess the following:

  • Experience with EBM therapy programs,
  • An ability to rigorously adhere to principles set by MST Services,
  • Effective stakeholder management skills,
  • Sound understanding of working respectfully with Indigenous communities,
  • Must be available to provide periodic on-call 24-hour coverage, and
  • Have own transport. 

 

Specific experience in parent management training, crisis intervention, cognitive-behavioural based substance abuse, and behaviourally-based treatments preferred. 

A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related discipline will be considered.
