About the business and the role

Ablecare is currently seeking staff ( casual and part time ), working on a fixed/ flexible roster to support clients in their own homes

  • Supported Accommodation 
  • Support clients with Autism, Challenging Behaviours and Intellectual Impairment
  • Assisting with Showering and Toileting
  • Dressing Assistance
  • Homecare duties - cooking , cleaning
  • Domestic Assistance - Bed making, washing
  • Community access and skills development

Job tasks and responsibilities

The duties of staff in direct care and disability support work includes personal care assistance, implementing specific care and supporting clients. Home care duties are also part of the role including cooking, cleaning and assisting with transport.

Work can be varied and is determined by the support needs of the individual person with a disability and their decision makers/ family.  This could include

  • Personal care support ( showering, hoisting, toileting, dressing)
  • Domestic assistance ( cooking, cleaning, shopping )
  • Transport assistance ( driving a van with wheelchair hoist and organising appointments )
  • Community access and recreation activities
  • Running group or individual skills development/ learning and lifestyle activities
  • Allied health assistance and therapy programme activities
  • Medical health support ( Medication assistance, doctors appointments )
  • Behavioural Support

Skills and experience

You will need to have or be willing to obtain the following skills / experience and qualifications:

  • Disability support in a variety of settings
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Specific skills relevant to a client group ie
    • Adults with a Disability and
    • Behavioural support - intellectual disability, challenging behaviour
    • Community Access and Vocational Support

Essential Requirements :

You will also be required to have ( or obtain - we are able to provide further information and assistance to successful applicants )

  • Bluecard and YellowCard Clearances ( Qld )
  • National Police Clearance
  • Current Queensland Drivers Licence and Vehicle
  • Own telephone 
  • Persons with an ABN ( Australian Business Number as a sole trader ) are welcome to apply as independent workers.

As part of this role the following training may be available as RPL or Flexible Format of Training:

  • Certificate 3 in Individual Support - ( funding and training available for eligible applicants) and or 
  • Certificate 4 in Allied Health Assistance ( funding and training available for eligible applicants ) specialisations in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech, Nutrition, Podiatry and Rehabilitation available.
  • For Co-ordination work : Diploma of Business or Community Co-ordination and Participation - NDIS specialisation electives
