Helping young people who need a hand

BackTrack is seeking a highly motivated and organised individual to join its team in the role of BT Works Leader.

BT Works provides pathways, through social enterprise, to help BackTrack’s young people transition into mainstream employment. It allows BackTrack to support them through the next transition of their lives and to increase their chances of entering a full-time external traineeship, apprenticeship, or employment. 

In this hands-on role, you'll be able to get stuck in and utilise your great rapport with young people and trades experience to mentor and develop the youth of BackTrack. Being flexible, tolerant and cooperative, and unflappable in the face of challenges and ambiguity, will be the keys to your success in this position. Working closely with the Business Development Manager – Social Enterprise, the youth of BackTrack and wider communities, you'll need to demonstrate the ability to engage with a wide cross section of members in the community to build strong relationships to promote BackTrack’s values and services. 

Work where you can make a difference

Your job will be to manage BT Works, assuming day to day commercial responsibility for BT Works operations.  You’ll supervise and manage both the internal and external commercial work of BackTrack youth training teams, as well as provide quality on-site job management, rostering and quoting/tendering.You'll provide direction and support to BT Works supervisors, employees and trainees and be responsible for the sustainable management of the commercial operations of BT Works. 

Some of your key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

Supervision, mentoring and rostering of youth on commercial jobs who are participating in BT Works’ projects;

  • Utilising your trade experience to connect with young people and leading the development of trade and employability skills;
  • Assessing employees and trainees for job assessments and projects; 
  • Identifying potential commercial opportunities, securing contracts, developing contacts and liaising with potential clients;
  • Commercial and rural site management and organisation, including the sourcing of appropriate equipment and materials; and
  • Promoting BackTrack’s four core values of belonging, independence, learning and generosity.

The role also requires you to have: 

  • Current First Aid certificate; 
  • Current WWCC (Working with Children Check), and
  • Current National Criminal Record Check.
