Type: 1 x Full Time - Fixed Term (Mt. Druitt) and 1 x Full Time (Liverpool) positions available

Founded in 1970, the Ted Noffs Foundation is a nationwide organisation, which offers young people the support and opportunities to reach their full potential.

 

Based in Mt. Druitt: 1 x Full Time - Fixed Term Contract up until 28th June 2019

Location: Outreach within the Western Sydney region (including Hills, Auburn, Blacktown, Holroyd, and Parramatta LGAs)

To provide outreach alcohol and drug related counselling to young people and families. A major aspect of this role is to assist young people to rebuild their relationships with their families and other significant people in their lives and to manage their lives more effectively.

 

Based in Liverpool: 1 x Full Time

Location: Liverpool, NSW

This role will be based out of the Street University, an innovative youth driven space that engages at risk young people through a range of educational, recreational, cultural and arts-based programs. The counsellors will provide clinical support within this environment and within an outreach setting.

 

Responsibilities and duties for both positions include:

  • Provide individual and family counselling as required.
  • Conducting a thorough assessment of each young person in collaboration with him or her.
  • Actively maintaining contact with young people in the service as appropriate.
  • Deliver early intervention and prevention strategies.
  • Encourage and support young people to develop and implement strategies aimed at reducing and/or ceasing drug use.
  • Ensure young people have proper representation and access to all services they may require.
  • Arranging community networking for a young person to encourage positive interactions in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Maintenance of accurate records, statistics and reports.
  • Expectation to work in an outreach setting to the Western Sydney region.

Essential Selection Criteria:

  • Recognised and relevant tertiary qualifications.
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to provide effective compassionate individual and family therapy for young people and their families.
  • Experience conducting thorough assessments.
  • Demonstrated experience and flexibility to operate in an outreach setting, including the ability to work independently within this context.
  • Good interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Good oral and written communication of clinical information and reports.
  • Successful candidates MUST have a current and valid NSW Working With Children Check prior to commencing employment.
  • Current driver's licence and a good driving record.

Desirable Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated ability and experience in working with young people with AOD problems.
  • Clinical experience in working with young people with a range of problems including depression, conduct disorder, self-harm, childhood trauma etc.
  • Experience in conducting a clinical assessment, developing appropriate treatment plans, delivering appropriate interventions, and liaising closely with other professionals in your role of management of young people.
