We are currently recruiting for a Foster Case Care Manager in Sunshine, to provide supervision and support to foster carers caring for children in foster care.
The Foster Care Case Manager will be a part of the Out of Home Care team, which offers a range of volunteer and out of home care services to families residing substantially in the Western Division of Melbourne, though some placements are located outside of the western suburbs. A key focus of the role is to work in partnership with Child Protection and other support services, as well as foster carers to provide a holistic trauma informed service using the Best Interests Case Practice Framework. You will also provide supervision and support to foster carers caring for children in foster care, which includes accepting referrals and placement of children for general and intensive placements, as well as family options and targeted care packages.
You Will:
- Provide quality service provision to children and foster carers of the Out of Home Care Program.
- Liaise with families of origin, and be involved in all functions pertaining to the recruitment, training and assessment of foster carer families
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Child Protection, and other government and community organisations
- Participate in and contribute to program development and innovation
You must have:
- Excellent family and child assessment skills including risk assessment of children and young people as well as assessment of caregivers
- Demonstrated case management skills with complex families and at risk children and young people
- Knowledge and experience of maintaining positive working relationships with Child Protection Services and other professionals and families in challenging situations
- Understanding of and ability to apply therapeutic models and theories around trauma and child development that enable positive change and demonstrated ability to apply these in practice
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or equivalent
