CatholicCare Sydney and Marist180 have recently formed a partnership with relation to foster care and related family services. The position

Using your creative and experienced leadership skills, you will lead, guide and mentor a team of highly professional case workers in a new organisation that is focused on the safety, permanency, and wellbeing for children and young people in out-of-home-care.

Roles available in 2 locations (Bankstown and Blacktown). This role will be responsible for delivering high-quality, person centred services to children and young people, their families and carers, early intervention (preservation), in foster care and/or after care support, voluntary out-of-home care restoration services and similar fields. The role also oversees and works in consultation with other Senior Managers to manage recruitment, assessment, and training of carers and prospective adoptive parents.

An attractive salary will be negotiated with the successful applicants, with access to salary packaging.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required

Applicants must be able to clearly demonstrate the following in their application

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline such as Social Work, Psychology or Family Therapy, as well as substantive experience in a leadership or management role
  • Demonstrated experience in and understanding of adoption and out-of-home care issues and the management of these within a case management and legislative framework
  • Superior communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Proven problem solving skills, including the ability to identify issues, risks and opportunities
  • Sound people management experience, with particular emphasis on coaching and managing a team of specialists
  • Clear understanding of current Child Protection Legislation and experience providing direction to staff around these
  • Strong commitment to, and passion for the mission of a Catholic agency and willingness to work in alignment to the principles of Catholic Social Teachings and other Church teachings
  • Willingness and capacity to undertake weekend shifts for training and other activities
  • Willingness to participate in an on call roster with other Senior Managers
  • Current Working with Children Check clearance
  • Current and valid driver’s licence and access to a well-maintained vehicle which will be used for work purposes
