Gold Coast Project for Homeless Youth Inc. is a not-for-profit community organisation formed in 1984 to provide accommodation and support for homeless young people of the Gold Coast.
Support and services include temporary supported accommodation for young people aged 16-19 in four different accommodation facilities and Mobile Support to young people homeless or at risk of homelessness, aged 16-25. We deliver specific planned activities, programs, community linkage and follow up support focusing on life skills to foster independence and tenancy sustainment, health and wellbeing, and social and community engagement.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Case Worker to provide case planning and support for young people aged 16-19 years residing in our Residential Services. Youth Residential experience and knowledge of referral pathways and homelessness supports is essential. This is a fixed term contract with the possibility of an extension for a further 6 months.
Essential for this role
An understanding of issues related to youth homelessness and how to support disadvantaged young people seeking support from immediate supported accommodation.
A relevant tertiary qualification such as social work, welfare or behavioural science and/or proven relevant experience in this role.
Demonstrated experience and highly developed skills in the Youth Services Sector, including housing, child and family services, employment/education, health, alcohol and other drugs, and legal services.
Sound assessment skills with the ability to adequately assess, individualise, collaborate, develop, and review a young person needs.
