Crisis Case Manager

Each year we provide assistance to over one million Australians by working in the community, offering practical and spiritual support, to assist people to live their lives to their full potential.

Our Supported Accommodation Service in the Inner City, Sydney area assists women/women with children who are experiencing homelessness, or at risk of homelessness, to alleviate their situation by providing a broad range of support services including; 24/7 supported crisis accommodation, transitional housing, trauma informed case management, chaplaincy, life skills programs & community outreach.

In this role you will deliver case planning and support to assist clients towards independent living which involves provision of information, goal setting, advocacy, assistance with living skills and referral to professional/services. This support is achieved through case management activities and working effectively with other members of a multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive client service within the values and mission of TSA.

Length of contract: This position is fixed term to 01 February 2019.

Essential Requirements:

  • An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote and support the values and ethos of The Salvation Army.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Community Services/Social work (or similar).
  • Professional development required to maintain skills for the role.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with unpredictable situations and behaviour, violence and problems associated with homelessness, substance abuse and mental health conditions.
  • Sound knowledge of SHS Guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Case Management principles and experience in the application of those principles.
  • Self motivated, high level of initiative and strong work ethic.
  • Sound presentation/facilitation and communication skills (both oral and written) to be able to interact positively with a variety of people and to assist in teaching clients to become self-reliant.
  • Sound administration skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Demonstrated effective use of interpersonal skills.
  • Team player, flexible with a positive attitude.
  • Effective problem solving skills, evaluation and conflict resolution skills.
  • An ability to liaise and work with a wider range of support personnel and professional groups
  • Demonstrated experience in working with disadvantaged people.
