About this opportunity
The Well Connected Program is a new initiative from Wellways Australia that aims to provide support to individuals experiencing mental health problems. The Peer Workers will be supporting people with their unique recovery journey using intentional peer support to provide a soft and supported entry into psychological therapies. The service aims to provide this support for communities that often struggle accessing such services, particularly people from CALD and ATSI communities and communities that have limited access to transport. The Peer worker will support individuals with transport to appointments and provide psychosocial supports to ensure a tailored and holistic approach of care. The Peer Workers may also be required to develop, implement and evaluate a proof-of-concept model, with their position being a valued member of the primary health care team.
What do you need?
- Minimum Certificate 4 in Mental Health Peer Work and Mental Health First Aid standard training
- Demonstrated experience/knowledge in working with people with mental health problems and their carers to build strong, long lasting partnerships in the community
- A current valid Driver's License and a registered vehicle (including insurance)
- Satisfactory Police Records Check and Working with Children Check, prior to commencement
- Highly developed cultural awareness and sensitivity with demonstrated experience working within a CALD role highly favourable
- Ability to speak Arabic, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese or an Aboriginal language highly favourable
- Experience in managing and facilitating groups highly favourable
