About Us:

The Salvation Army Oasis Youth Support Network provides a place of safety and care where young people can find refuge. Working with young people, aged 16 to 25, most of whom have experienced complex trauma, Oasis offers opportunities for young people to embrace their potential and envision their life taking a different path. From crisis and transitional accommodation, right through to case management, education and training, living skills and outreach, Oasis works to re-establish choice, self-worth and confidence in a safe environment, empowering young people to move forward in their lives and make positive choices for their futures.

The Role:

GITS (Getting It Together Scheme) Program is located in Rockdale. It is an early intervention program working with vulnerable young people aged 12-25 years. Through the provision of case management and supports assisted by brokerage, GITS supports young people to overcome barriers related to alcohol, drug and interconnected issues. The case manager’s role includes undertaking the intake and assessment of young people referred, case planning, advocacy, liaison, information and referral in addressing income, health, mental health, social support, housing, justice, education, employment and training needs. We are currently seeking a full-time Case Manager to join this dynamic, committed program. The Oasis Youth Support Network operates from a Trauma Informed Care framework and this position supports the restoration of choice, empowerment and safety for at-risk young people. This position is Monday – Friday.

To be successful in the role you will have to demonstrate your experience through the following selection criteria:

  • Tertiary or other qualifications within Community Services, Social Work or similar discipline
  • Experience in the implementation of case management and appropriate intervention strategies for working with disadvantaged and/or complex needs clients.
  • 2 years work experience working with vulnerable and at risk groups.
  • Established knowledge & understanding of youth homelessness, mental health, addiction & welfare issues and appropriate intervention strategies
  • Demonstrated experience in working with young people and their families
  • Ability to develop & maintain rapport with vulnerable young people
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including written, verbal, listening & networking skills
  • Willingness to work within a Trauma Informed Care Framework
  • An understanding, empathy, appreciation and the ability to promote the values and ethos of The Salvation Army.
  • Sound computer literacy
  • Current Driver’s licence
  • Willing to undertake a working with children check
