Alwyndor is looking for dedicated and caring Residential Care Workers to join their team at the beautiful grounds in the seaside suburb of Hove.

Owned by the City of Holdfast Bay, Alwyndor is the operator of the Dorothy Cheater Trust. We deliver on-site residential care and outreach community and therapy services to the area’s older population. Alwyndor’s long history of caring for the elderly in our community and will continue into the future.

About the Role

An opportunity exists for responsible and proactive team players with an empathy and passion for the elderly to join a progressive Aged Care organisation in a key role, at an exciting time. Residential Care Workers have a crucial role in delivering best practice care for residents and support the organisation’s continuous improvement programs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Implementing resident care in accordance with their individual care plan as delegated by nursing staff
  • Assisting residents with activities of daily living including self-care, mobility and hygiene
  • Enhancing the resident's dignity
  • Contributing to the nursing assessments of residents
  • Assisting nursing staff with the residents’ progress towards identified goals
  • Maintaining an environment which promotes safety, security and optimal health
  • Working a variety of shifts, including weekends

Required Skill and Attributes:

  • Certificate III in Aged Care (Essential)
  • A minimum of 12 months paid employment as a Residential Care Worker 
  • An ability to commit to permanent part time hours - short shifts are available
  • Ability to prioritise and manage work loads
  • Ability to provide personal care in accordance with Care Plans
  • Ability to communicate with people of various ages, cultures and backgrounds
  • Excellent reading, writing and comprehension skills
  • Being a 'team player' who can work autonomously and in a team
  • Excellent personal presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Basic knowledge of Aged Care legislation (Elder Abuse, Code of Conduct for Unregistered Health Practitioners and Duty of Care)
  • Ability to demonstrate a good understanding of WH&S practices and principles within the workplace
  • Experienced in working with people who have a diagnosis of dementia
