For over 63 years, the Windgap Foundation has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for people living with an intellectual disability.
A rare opportunity has arisen within our School Leavers Employment Service (SLES) Program for an experienced Community Support Worker to join our team.
Windgap's SLES Program offers participants and their families a person-centred program for school leavers that promotes work and life skills in a wide range of industries. Providing hands on work experience, our SLES team ensures our participants achieve their full potential in areas of interest to them, such as hospitality, horticulture and warehousing.
Working with an established team, this role will assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations and coordination of our warehousing program, incorporating training and skill development, as well as community access shifts on a weekly basis.
To be successful in this opportunity, candidates must be able to demonstrate the following essential criteria:
- Previous experience in supporting people with an intellectual disability or children and young people in a related field
- Previous experience in an education and training role
- The ability to support and motivate Windgap clients to ensure they reach their full potential at all times
- A strong inclusion of people with disabilities in the community
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to the people we support and their families
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and contributing to team goals
- Good level of general fitness and ability to complete manual handling tasks including some lifting
- Computer literacy skills, including being a competent user of MS Applications including Word, Outlook, Excel and experience using databases
- Current NSW Driver's Licence and First Aid certificate
This opportunity is a permanent part time role with the working hours of 9am - 3:30pm three days a week on an ongoing basis, with the opportunity to pick up more hours on a weekly basis.
