headspace are seeking applications from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people for an internship, working within the Cultural Practice and Diversity team.

 

This role will review and collate relevant resources related to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth mental health. A final report will be submitted to the Cultural Practice and Diversity Advisor, containing a list of recommendations for best practice in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mental health and wellbeing for the headspace network and/or the youth mental health sector more broadly.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identify key documents relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth mental health
  • Review and collate relevant resources into a report
  • Develop a list of recommendations for the headspace network and/or the youth mental health sector more broadly
  • Any other duties consistent with the position where required by the Cultural Practice and Diversity Advisor

This role is located within the Cultural Practice and Diversity team at headspace National. The Cultural Practice and Diversity team provides advice and guidance in the planning, development and implementation of policies, strategies, programs and services to support successful participation by and engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.

 

The intern will report to the Cultural Practice and Diversity Advisor, and will receive additional support from the Youth Participation Officer.

 

This is a paid position, ideally suited to a current tertiary student or recent graduate who is looking to build their skills and experience for future employment.

 

Throughout their time at headspace, the intern will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge to a practical context, acquire new and transferable skills, and add to their professional networks. The intern will be given responsibility and be accountable for project deliverables. They will gain a deeper understanding of autonomous and team-based work, along with opportunities to further develop their CV and interviewing and presentation skills. They will have access to a dedicated supervisor who will provide day-to-day support and motivation, who will invest in their development, and who will provide a written reference upon successful completion of the program.
