Your new organisation

Your new organisation looks to provide early intervention mental health services to 12/25 year olds along with assistance in promoting young peoples’ wellbeing. Your new role

In your new role you will support school communities to promote mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention with the goal of improving outcomes for young people and their families. Primarily you will support teachers, leaders and schools rather than providing direct clinical services to young people. You will look to support schools through implementation of the Mental Health in Education (MHE) Service at the State/Territory level.
This will include but is not limited to promoting the mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention elements of the MHE program with prospective and participating schools through a relationship approach. Providing a clinical response and recommendations according to the national clinical governance framework utilising the support and direction of the MHE leadership. Provide primary, secondary and/or tertiary consultation, support and assistance to schools and school communities affected by suicide. The position also calls for skills that will enable the successful delivery of education and training packages relevant to the field of youth mental health and suicide.

What you'll need to succeed

• Have approved tertiary qualifications in either Psychology, Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or Counselling.
• You will also be registered with one of the following membership bodies AHPRA, AASW, ACA.
• Must have clinical skills in the provision of mental health care to young people, including risk assessment and appropriate referral, support and liaison with family and other networks.
• You will have demonstrated experience in delivering clinical mental health or advisory services to secondary schools.
• Highly developed communication skills, both verbal and written, with experience interacting with a diverse range of stakeholders including young people, health and educational professionals, and other community services.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and with a team focus.
• Have a current driver’s licence (automatic) and use of a fully maintained motor vehicle with comprehensive insurance.
• Be able and willing to travel at short notice, with overnight stays as required.
