An exciting opportunity now exists to join our team. The Bus Driver will be responsible for collecting clients from their homes in the morning and transporting them to our Disability Centre in Fisher Street, Malvern East and taking them home at the end of the day.  Other duties include cleaning of vehicles, refuelling of vehicles and monthly maintenance checks. The incumbent will be required to develop a relationship with the clients and implement developed behaviour management support plans when required. Training and education will be provided. The person will mentor and guide the clients with safe transport practices, and support new clients during their orientation to the service. 

The position is casual and will work between 7:30-9.00 am and 3.00pm-4:30 pm Monday to Friday. This role will suit a semi-retired person or someone looking for flexible casual work. 

The successful applicant will have:

• Full Victorian drivers license and have the confidence to drive a 12 seater bus.  
• Safe driving record
• Ability to assist &/or learn wheelchair strap/belts for securing clients into bus
• Show initiative, be a team player, and be pro-active and dedicated to deliver safe practice
• Have ability to implement behaviour management strategies alongside staff when required
• Have a calm and understanding manner.

Desirable skills and experience include:

• Experience in working with people with intellectual disability.
