We are pleased to announce our partnership with Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service in the development of a new purpose built mental health facility in Bundaberg. This new short term residential service will provide alternatives to hospital admission and is for people of Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Bundaberg and the rural and coastal communities in the Wide Bay area.
We have a position available for a Peer Practitioner to join this new service on a part time basis. The Peer Practitioner will utilise their lived experience of mental ill health and recovery to provide specialist services to clients, families and carers, in line with Mind’s Model of Recovery Oriented Practice and according to the values of Mind.
As part of the team at Mind you will:
- Work part time, 24 hours per week on a fixed term contract
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, with lived experience of mental ill health and recovery being the unique specialist lens that you bring
- Work with customers to enable them return to their place of residence and a meaningful life through supporting them through a staged approach to recovery
- Work in partnership with clinical services and other key stake holders
- Assist client to build networks and support which will help them once they have exited the service
- Casual & Part time positions also available
You will have:
- A lived experience of mental ill health and recovery AND the ability and willingness to use this to inform your work and the work of the team
- Tertiary qualifications (minimum certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health related field as designated by Mind
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working within a recovery oriented framework
- A positive attitude to the work
