The position of 1:1 Home and Community Support Leader exists to provide a range of in-home and community support services which are designed to support people with a disability and their carers to stay active, independent and living at home for as long as possible.

Within this position, employees are required to perform a range of duties within a Home Support and/or Community Access role with shifts ranging from 0.5 to 8 hours with varying break times depending on the intensity and requirements of each shift.

Shifts may include:
• Assisting participants to get our and connect with the local community
• Supporting people with personal care, in home respite and cleaning their homes
• Prividing transport for people to attend appointments or social groups
• Supporting people to access the gym to increase health and well-being

Staff may be asked to work within the span of our hours of operation which are 6am to 12am Monday to Sunday and public holidays. All allocated shifts are subject to the mutual agreement of the individual requirements of that shift, by all parties involved.

 

Selection Criteria

• Must have a minimum Certificate III in Community Services or equivalent or currently studying
• Current Driver's Licence
• Experience in disability support is preferred
• Willingness to undergo Indigenous Cultural Competency Training (before commencement of first shift)
• Preferred experience in working with participants with high/complex support needs highly desired
• Willingness to work within a direct support/one-to-one role highly desirable
• Experience working with high intensity clients that require manual handling, PRN, peg feeding or epilepsy management. If no experience than a willingness to undertake the required training.
• Basic computer skills
• A smart phone with internet access
• Excellent interpersonal skills

 

Qualifications

The successful applicants will hold the following current qualifications:
• Current Employee Working With Children Check
• Current National Police Check (no more than 6 months old)
• Current Level 2 First Aid (minimum HTLAID003)
• Current CPR (minimum HLTAID001)
• Minimum Certificate III in Community Services or other relevant qualification (as approved by YMCA Whittlesea)
• Full driver's licence
• Full comprehensive car insurance
• Up to date car service log book
