About the role:

To provide positive social and for children, young adults and adults that are age appropriate, foster peer relationships and facilitate community participation.  As part of these programs you will be required to provide physical, emotional and social support, learning and development opportunities, personal care and behavioural support within a client focused framework, ensuring that the care and support provided is of the highest standard.

The Lifestyle and Respite Division provides Holiday, Bridging the Gap, The Wave, Great Break and Awesome Adventures.

  • Holiday programs, weekend activities and camping for children and adults (respite)
  • After school programs at Mt Evelyn, Ashwood and St Paul’s College
  • Recreational, social and vocational activities.

Key responsibilities:

  • To provide direct support and care to individuals within the program, including personal care, medication, administration, money handling, driving of a 12-seater van and behavioural support according to the needs set out in individual Lifestyle Plans and according to standards established by Villa Maria Catholic Homes Policies and Procedures.
  • To support individuals aged 6-18 to participate fully in a range of recreational after school care programs school holidays in a variety of community settings.
  • To work regular ongoing shifts effectively and collaboratively with other team members and on occasions independently in an unsupervised environment, participating in decision making within the boundaries of the program.

You will have:

  • Work as a participant within a team and manage own work practices within a team environment
  • Assist in the development, implementation of recreational activities that are age appropriate, foster peer relationships, enable community participation and respect social and cultural diversity
  • Build positive relationships and communicate effectively with individuals, families, other staff and service providers
  • Provide hands on person centered delivery
