Ready Set Go is a Collective Impact initiative that brings together a diverse range of stakeholders to leverage opportunities and influence systems change. Ready Set Go has established a common agenda for change, with the goal of changing outcomes for Aboriginal children and families right across our community, with a particular focus on school readiness and success of Aboriginal children.

The Ready Set Go Backbone Leader provides direction, support and leadership to a Coalition of stakeholders who are working to realise the 3 Obsessions of the initiative:

1. Aboriginal families are valued and supported as child’s first teacher.
2. Communities will be ready to support Aboriginal children as learners and individuals.
3. Early learning environments and schools will be ready to support Aboriginal children to reach their full potential.  

Key to this role is working effectively with a wide range of stakeholders including Aboriginal community leaders, Aboriginal families, schools, preschools, businesses, child and family services, health services and Government agencies. The role includes:

• Setting direction for and providing support to the Ready Set Go Coalition, Custodian Group and working groups
• Designing and implementing engagement, research, co-creation and shared learning activities
• Informing and overseeing the shared measurement system, including data collection and reporting processes
• Building capacity of self and stakeholders to work collaboratively using a Collective Impact model

The Ready Set Go Backbone Leader demonstrates a high level of courage, resiliency and cultural intelligence in order to lead a significant social change initiative. This person has a deep commitment to collaboration, and the skill and influence to enable community participation and shared leadership. They practice adaptive leadership, including directing change efforts and influencing stakeholders where problems are complex and solutions are uncertain.
