Family Support WA is seeking a disability support worker with prior experience to assist a man living independently in Lesmurdie. You will be responsible for encouraging and enhancing his independent living skills, supporting him whilst he works from home, and accompanying him to regular activities in the community.
Candidates may start this part-time role immediately and can expect to work no less than 16.5 hours a week including 4.5 hours every Saturday. Although most travel will be on public transport, you will need to use your own vehicle from time to time.
Key Requirements
- experience with meeting the needs of people with a disability
- non-verbal communication skills
- proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships
- extremely reliable and punctual
- knowledge, experience, or training in keeping with person-centred principles for people with disabilities who wish to live independently in the community
- experience in operating within a framework of occupational health and safety, quality control systems, and risk management protocols
- your own transport suitable for work-related travel
