headspace Osborne Park is an initiative funded by the Australian Government (Department of Health) which provides access, information and support for young people aged 12 – 25 years to improve their mental and physical health, address alcohol and other drug issues, and assist with access to vocational and employment services

About the role

The Community Engagement Officer (headspace Osborne Park) position will lead the development and delivery of health promotions, training and education initiatives, programs and events to young people, families, stakeholders and the broader community.

The position may also be required to deliver group based activities for clients of headspace Osborne Park.

Essential minimum selection criteria

  1. Relevant Professional Qualifications e.g. Marketing, Health Promotion, Youth Work
  2. Proven ability to develop rapport and effective professional relationships with young people, key stakeholders and associated professional organisations.
  3. Knowledge of contemporary models and methods of supporting young people living with mental illness and compliance with continuous professional development.
  4. Highly developed organisational skills and ability to work autonomously within tight deadlines.
  5. Experience working in a community development and/or health promotion context.
  6. Demonstrated ability to use creativity and innovation in a community / project setting.
  7. Ability to actively and assertively engage young people from a variety of backgrounds.
  8. Ability to actively contribute in a diverse team environment.
  9. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and ability to establish partnerships with a range of service providers and organizations
  10. Willingness and ability to work within a social inclusion framework (including challenging homophobia, racism and other forms of discrimination).
  11. High level computer skills including demonstrated experience with Windows based packages, email and internet.
  12. Demonstrated effective interpersonal liaison skills, excellent written and oral communication skills including the delivery of small and large group presentations.
  13. Ability to work as part of a team, as well as self-motivated to work independently.
  14. Current, valid driver’s license and access to own vehicle.
  15. Current National Police Clearance Certificate and Working with Children Check

This is a part time  0.6 FTE negotiable with some demand for after hours and weekend work.
