The Crime Victims Counselling Coordinator is responsible for providing and coordinating counselling and group work for clients who are crime victims across the Northern Territory. This includes providing face-to-face counselling with clients, telephone and/or Skype counselling, visiting remote locations to see clients, assessing referrals and linking clients in with counsellors who service their region.
We are looking for a person with:
- Relevant qualification in social work or counselling and membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. AHPRA, AASW, PACFA, ACA).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to coordinate services as well as provide community education.
- Demonstrated cultural competency, particularly in working with Indigenous people.
- Demonstrated ability to work therapeutically (counselling and groupwork) with clients recovering from the trauma of being a victim of crime. Specialised knowledge in trauma and recovery is highly regarded.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor other counsellors to support their skill development in working with crime victims as required.
